Top 5 All Time Best Episodes of the Simpsons

Selma's Choice A somewhat dark humored episode what with Homer singing 'on top of spaghetti' on the way to the funeral of Aunt Gladys, and changing it to "ding, dong, the witch is dead" after being lectured by Marge. This episode includes such great moments as Bart and Lisa's counting game in the car, a trip to duff gardens, Homer eating a month old sandwich, and Lisa on a drug trip. Best Line: "EEECH! Back to the loch with you Nessie!" after groundskeeper Willy watches Selma's dating service video.

Boy scouts 'N the Hood After a wild Squishy bender, Bart wakes up to realize that he has joined the junior campers. This one has some great character interaction with Homer and Flanders, as well as guest voice Ernest Borgnine. Best Line: "mmm floor pie."
Deep Space Homer Some people tried to say this was the shark jumping episode, and it had the potential with the whole Homer in space storyline. The episode, however, became an instant classic. Homer is in top form here with his angry, dumb, charm. Best Line: "What do you have to do to get some Tang around here?"
Bart On The Road One great thing about The Simpsons is the huge collection of great side characters to bring into the story. "Bart on the Road" makes perfect use of side characters Nelson, Martin, and Milhouse. The interactions of the kids as they embark on a road trip adventure makes for excellent TV. Best line: "Hot Damn! No more sittin in the dirt at the drive in!"
22 Short Films About Springfield One of the most unique episodes of The Simpsons, this one sets out to tell some of the stories of the other Springfield residents. Essentially it's a collection of shorts. Stories featured include Principle Skinner inviting his boss over for dinner, Chief Wiggum in a "Pulp Fiction" style plot, and Cletus the slack-jawed yokel, among others. Best line: "Slow Down Sir! You're going to give yourself skin failure!"

College Paper: Critical Analysis of Antigone

Below is a copy of an English Comp II paper on Antigone. For use as an example only. Critical Analysis of Antigone Themes of Life, Death, Sin, and Virtue Analysis of Sophocles' play Antigone and its major themes Antigone is a play similar to Oedipus Rex in its dark tone, mythical themes, and tragic story. However, Sophocles' writing seems clearer in this play, and Antigone is much more character-driven with complex, well developed characters. Through Sophocles' brilliant characterization of people at war with themselves, Inner conflict emerges as the central theme of the play. The play is all about conflict including the obvious themes like man's rules versus divine law, and pride versus honor; as well as the deeper subtext of each character's internal conflicts.   Kreon for example, is caught between his duty to the gods and his pride. His character has changed dramatically from the time of Oedipus to the events of Antigone. He is still aware of...

A Brief Look at the Eventful Life of Samuel Tilden

Samuel Jones Tilden was born in New Lebanon, New York in 1814. He was educated at Yale University and the University of the city of New York. He was admitted to the bar in 1841. [1]  Tilden became an outstanding corporation lawyer, who mastered the complexities of reorganizing and refinancing railroads. He amassed a fortune in fees, which he augmented by shrewd  investments  in railroads, iron mines, and real estate. [2] Tilden had shown leadership ability early in his political career. An ardent Jacksonian in the 1830's, Tilden became a leader in the 1840's of the Barnburners. [3]  "The Barnburners were a radical element of the Democratic party in New York State from 1842 to 1848. The name derives from the fabled Dutchman who burned his barn to rid it of rats; by implication, the Barnburners would destroy corporations and public works to do away with the abuses they foster". [4]  This alliance illustrated Tilden's commitment to the abolition of corruption. ...
